Uzbekistan
The territory of Uzbekistan is 447.4 thousand square km. The distance between southern and northern geographic extremes of the country is 925 km while it is 1400 km wide from west to east. Uzbekistan borders on the neighbor states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan.
The population of Uzbekistan is more than 26 million people. The rural population makes 60% of it. There are 16 major cities with population of more than 100 thousand people in Uzbekistan.
Administrative division of the country: Uzbekistan consists of 12 regions (viloyats) and the Karakalpak Autonomous Republic.

Kyrgyzstan
The Kyrgyz Republic, commonly referred to as Kyrgyzstan, is a landlocked, largely mountainous country of Central Asia bounded on the east by China, on the north by Kazakhstan, on the west by Uzbekistan and on the southwest and south by Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan stretches 425 kilometres north to south and 900 kilometres west to east.
Kyrgyzstan borders on Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China and Tajikistan. Most northern latitude of Kyrgyzstan is 43 o16' (pretty close to the latitude of Rome in Italy) while its most southern latitude is 39 o11', which is the same of Sicily Island in Italy.
Kyrgyzstan territory occupies 1,999,000 square meters - more than the territory of Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland taken together. Country's total population is approximately 4,700,000 people with Kyrgyz, Russian, and Uzbek being a majority nationalities.
Capital city of Kyrgyzstan is Bishkek. Bishkek is the biggest city of the country and alone represents for about 20% of its total population.
Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country of which more than 90% is highland at 1000 meters above sea level. The highest mountain of the country is the Pobeda Peak (meaning "Victory Peak" in Russian), 7439 meters high.

Kazakhstan
Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan and the former capital of the Republic. Nowadays the population of the city runs over 1,300,000 people.
The landscape of Kazakhstan is diverse. The northern forest-steppe lands turn into steppe, half-deserts and deserts in the South.

Tajikistan
Tajikistan is a young independent state lying in the South-East part of Central Asia. It adjoins Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on West and North, and borders on China on East and South. It has a land area of 143,000 square kilometres and a populations of about 6 million people (among them Tajiks make 62%, Uzbeks - 24%, Russians - 8% and others - 4%).
The capital city of Tajikistan is Dushanbe - a city of over 600,000 people.
Mountains occupy 93% of the territory and more than a half of the country is located at the altitude of more than 3,000 meters. The highest Central Asia's peaks including Communism Peak (7,495 m), and Lenin Peak (7,134 m) are there.

Turkmenistan
The Republic of Turkmenistan is located in Central Asia. On the north Turkmenistan borders on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, in the east - on Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, in the south - on Afghanistan and Iran, in the west along the Caspian Sea - on Azerbaijan. The overall length of boundaries is 5646 km.
Ashkhabat (Ashgabat) is the capital of the Republic.
Population is more than 6 million people.
The official language is Turkmen. Russian is also used as conversational language.
The territory is 488 100 square kilometers in total and makes it the largest country in Central Asia. These are vast landscapes - mainly low places, sandstones and uninhabited plains. Kara-Kum desert and Kara-Bogaz-Gol bay, which is located in 35 meters below sea level, are the most parts of it. The basic region of population is located along Amu-Darya - the largest and most important river in Turkmenistan. The Sary-Kamysh lake is the greatest salt lake in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is rich in mineral deposits: oil, natural gas, salt, metals. There are no high mountains in Turkmenistan. The foothills of Kopet-Dagh are located on west and south-west of the country. The highest summit is 2942 meters.
